  • Choose Next > Format > Confirm.

To recall, the device was launched in the US last year in September, in both 4G and 5G variants but only the 4G variant of the phone could make it to the Indian market in the month of October 2020. The all-new Samsung Galaxy S20 FE can now be purchased in India in a single 8GB RAM with 128GB storage variant. However, Samsung (as an introductory offer) is now giving it at Rs 47,999 starting today via Samsung.com, Amazon.in, Samsung Exclusive Stores and leading retail outlets. This mobile phone will be offered in Cloud Lavender, Cloud Mint, and Cloud Navy colour options.

The Samsung Galaxy S20 FE 5G comes with a 6.5-inch full-HD+ Super AMOLED Infinity-O Display offering 2,400×1,080 pixels of resolution with an aspect ratio of 84.8 percent and a pixel density of 407ppi. At its heart, there is an octa-core Snapdragon 865 SoCpaired with 8GB RAM with 128GB storage, which can be expanded up to 1TB using a microSD card. The software front of the device runs on Android 11 with Samsung’s One UI 3.0 on top. 

The Galaxy S20 FE 5G features a triple rear camera set up that includes a primary 12-megapixel wide-angle lens with f/1.8 aperture, a 12-megapixel ultra-wide-angle lens with 123-degree field of view (FoV) and f/2.2 aperture and lastly an 8-megapixel telephoto lens with f/2.0 aperture. In terms of connectivity there is Wi-Fi, Bluetooth v5.0, GPS/ A-GPS, NFC, and a USB Type-C port, but lacks a 3.5mm audio jack. The sensors onboard include an accelerometer, compass, fingerprint sensor, gyro sensor, hall sensor, light sensor, and a proximity sensor.

LinkedIn, an American business and employment-oriented online service, recently announced that it will feature an audio-only set up on its platform. This revelation has brought LinkedIn into the race among other social platforms for developing social audio media platforms.

What are the best ways to lose weight?

1- Calorie Deficit

Weight loss = Calorie Deficit. The more calorie deficit you are in, the more weight you would lose. It doesn’t matter if you ate pizza or cake, but as long as you are hitting your daily calorie goal, you are good.

Count your calories. You can use any smartphone app to count your daily calories. It helps a lot.

Typically 3,500 calories equals about 1 pound. So if your body requires 2200 calories and you are eating 1200 calories a day i.e. a calorie deficit of 1000 calories. You would lose

1 week = 7 days

1000*7 = 7000 calories

7000 calories = 2 pounds in a week

2- Water

  • Drink 2 litres of water everyday for weight loss and to maintain an ideal weight. You might need to drink more water if you exercise a lot or sweat heavily.
  • Drink water a half hour before meals and not during the meal. One study showed that drinking water a half hour before meals increased weight loss by 44% over 3 months.

3- Avoid sugary drinks and processed food

Heavily processed foods cause overeating and weight gain. These are the most fattening things you can put into your body, and avoiding them can help you lose weight. People eating ultra-processed foods ate more calories and gained more weight than when they ate a minimally processed diet, according to results from a National Institutes of Health study. The difference occurred even though meals provided to the volunteers in both the ultra-processed and minimally processed diets had the same number of calories and macronutrients.

You cannot avoid fast food altogether, it’s tough. But you can minimise it. If you are eating processed food daily, reduce it to thrice a week and then to once a week and so on. You will soon realise you don’t crave for it as much as before.

4- Choose weight loss-friendly foods

Certain foods are very useful for losing fat. Studies show that soluble fibres may reduce fat, especially in the belly area. Base most of your diet on whole foods. They are healthier, more filling and much less likely to cause overeating. Some of the weight loss friendly foods are:

  • Leafy Greens like kale, spinach, collards, Swiss chards and a few others.
  • Cruciferous vegetables like broccoli, cauliflower, cabbage and sprouts. They’re high in fibre and tend to be incredibly filling.
  • Avocados are a unique fruit. While most fruits are high in carbs, avocados are loaded with healthy fats.
  • Apple Cider Vinegar is incredibly popular in the natural health community. Some people dilute it in water and drink it.
  • Nuts despite being high in fat are not as fattening as you would expect. They’re an excellent snack, containing balanced amounts of protein, fibre and healthy fats. And they make you feel full for a longer duration.
  • Oats are high in the soluble fiber beta-glucan, which has numerous benefits. It helps reduce cholesterol and blood sugar levels, promotes healthy gut bacteria. It increases feelings of fullness and thus helps in losing weight.
  • Mung beans are high in fiber and protein, which can help curb hunger by lowering levels of hunger hormones, such as ghrelin, and raising fullness hormones, such as peptide YY, GLP-1 and cholecystokinin.

5- Drink coffee or tea

If you’re a coffee or tea drinker, then drink as much as you want as the caffeine in them boost your metabolism by 3–11%.

In the short term, caffeine can boost the metabolic rate and increase fat burning, but after a while people become tolerant to the effects and it stops working. But even if coffee doesn’t make you expend more calories in the long term, there is still a possibility that it blunts appetite and helps you eat less.

6- Intermittent fasting

There are several different ways of doing intermittent fasting — all of which involve splitting the day or week into eating and fasting periods.These are the most popular methods:

  • The 16/8 method: It involves skipping breakfast and restricting your daily eating period to 8 hours, such as 1–9 p.m. Then you fast for 16 hours in between.
  • Eat-Stop-Eat: This involves fasting for 24 hours, once or twice a week, for example by not eating from dinner one day until dinner the next day.

Intermittent fasting has been observed to cause an increase in the Human Growth Hormone (HGH) as much as five times over.

Also known as growth hormone (GH), HGH plays a key role in growth, body composition, cell repair and metabolism. HGH also boosts muscle growth, strength and exercise performance, while helping you recover from injury and disease

7- Cardio and weight training

Cardio and weight training will help you reach your calorie goal besides other health benefits. Say your daily requirement is 2200 calories and you are eating 1800 calories a day and burning 600 calories by working out. So you meet your daily calorie deficit of 1000 calories (1800 – 600 = 1200; 2200 – 1200 = 1000).

Go to the gym 3–4 times a week. Do a warm-up: Treadmill, Elliptical, Crossfit and lift some weights. By lifting weights, you will burn lots of calories and prevent your metabolism from slowing down, which is a common side effect of losing weight.

Prefer doing Cardio after weight training.

8- Good Habits

  • Eat your food slowly.Fast eaters gain more weight over time. Eating slowly makes you feel more full and boosts weight-reducing hormones.
  • Weigh yourself regularly to check your progress.
  • Get a good night’s sleep, every night.
  • Walk 10,000 steps per day.
  • Eat food with varying calories.
  • Avoid or limit dairy products consumption.
  • Use small plates.
  • Drink warm lemon water in the morning. Lemons are high in pectin fibre, which could help fight hunger cravings.
  • Have a cheat day, once in a week or fortnight to satisfy your cravings.
  • Don’t go to sleep right after dinner. Make a habit of going on a walk before going to bed.

Selfie is a recent phenomenon and has been appointed as the word of 2013 by Oxford Dictionary. Google estimates that 24 billion selfies were uploaded to Google Photos in 2015. About 1 million selfies are clicked per day in 18 to 24 demographic. Pew Research Center showed that nearly 55 percent of millennials have posted a selfie on social media services.

Depending on how you are narcissistic and how selfies you took, you may not be aware of the most alarming piece of news related selfie-: kill Selfies. Literally. In fact, a Conde Nast Traveler Article selfie compared death to death by shark attack and concluded that death selfie won in 2015, which seems rather shocking until you look at the number of victims of shark attack and realize that this is not so high. Most selfie-related deaths occur when the selfie taker is in a risky but impressive position as standing in front of a moving train or a charging bull or posing with a grenade. In a recent tragedy, a Polish couple died before their children after he jumped a security barrier and tried to take a selfie on the edge of a cliff.

Now it is interesting to note that people are dying to do stupid things all the time, so really this is just another version of climbing Mount Everest or doing acrobatics atop a skyscraper 62 story, except that it is accessible to almost everyone with a smartphone. So as much as we would all like to believe that most humans are smart enough not to die in a crash selfie, you should never underestimate the power of ‘it will not happen to me. “

When did mobile phones come out?

Prior to 1973, mobile telephony was limited to phones installed in cars and other vehicles. Motorola was the first company to produce a handheld mobile phone. On April 3, 1973, Martin Cooper, a Motorola researcher and executive, made the first mobile telephone call from handheld subscriber equipment, placing a call to Dr. Joel S. Before devices were now referred to as cellphones or mobile phones, there were several precursors. In 1908, Professor Albert Jahnke and the Oakland Transcontinental Telephone and Airpower Company claimed to have developed a wireless telephone. They were accused of fraud and the charges were later canceled, but they did not appear to continue production.  Starting in 1918, the German railroad system tested wireless telephones on military trains between Berlin and Zossen. In 1924, the public trial began with a telephone connection on the train between Berlin and Hamburg. In 1925, the Zugtelephonie AG company was established to supply train telephony equipment and, in 1926, telephone services on the Deutsche Reichsbahn train and German postal services on routes between Hamburg and Berlin were approved and offered to first-class travelers.

John F. Mitchell, Motorola’s chief of portable communication products and Cooper’s boss in 1973, played a key role in advancing the development of handheld mobile telephone equipment. Mitchell failed to push Motorola into developing wireless communication products that would be small enough to use anywhere and participated in the design of the cellular phone.

As a result of Dr. Cooper’s public test call using the prototype phone, it would take another ten years for his first commercial sale. The first phone for the public was the Motorola DynaTAC 8000X.
