It’s That Time of Year: Anonymous Oscar Ballots

the voter is a publicist

– had problems seeing the movies, few physical medias were sent out and you need to have Apple or Roku to access the Academy screening portal on a smart tv (the voter does not like watching movies on a computer)

– would have voted for Rosamund Pike if she were nominated

– thinks Mank is a mess. Had problems understanding the Judas and Black Messiah vernacular dialogue but thinks it is a “real cinematic movie” unlike “Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom”. voted for Nomadland.

– have not decied who they will vote for in Best Director yet, they are undecied between Zhao and Fennell

– is bothered by the category placementsfor Boseman (should be supporting), Kaluuya (should be lead), and Viola Davis (should be supporting)

– is voting for Mulligan in best actress, “Frances McDormand is perfect, but she has won two Oscars and that’s enough. That always weighs with me. It’s so difficult to get one with all the politicking you have to get through.

– really liked “The Father” and wants to give it something

– more Mank hate: Given everything that went into “Mank” and how it captured the period, something about that movie is so manipulative and deliberate and precious.
