The Censor Board of India banned Fifty Shades of Grey just because they could not give it a rating despite voluntary cuts by the distributor.

And this was not the first time. The Da Vinci Code , The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo , Fire , Kama Sutra: A Tale of Love, Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom and Sikkim are few of the films that were banned at some point of time. Most films were banned on the pretext of explicit sexual content, but Porn has not yet been banned.
