Steve Buscemi was once a firefighter and assisted the FDNY after the 9/11 attacks

Actor Steve Buscemi has had a long and diverse career in television and film since entering the acting business in the mid-1980s, famous for playing a darker role like Carl Showalter, one of two kidnappers in the 1996 crime drama Fargo, Tony Blundetto, cousin of mafia boss Tony Soprano in the 2004 season of the HBO television series The Sopranos, and politician / gangster Enoch ‘Nucky’ Thompson in the HBO Boardwalk Empire series.

But, as stated in an item posted on the Brotherhood of Fire Facebook page in September 2013, Steve Buscemi (a native of Brooklyn) began his work life as a 22-year-old New York City firefighter:
