The car made a world record going 256mph in 2007, although it was mostly unknown. The driver was 71 years old, and he wore no helmet. His name is unknown for now.In 2011, SSC announced a new car, called the TUATARA as a concept. After few years, no news were coming from the company. One of few SSC fans thought the company was dead, but SSC was not. They again came back showing there newest 2018 SSC Tuatara. Many people underestimated the car, saying it was just a cheap car that would fail. The company later announced the 2020 TUATARA, that officially began production.
