The biggest lies ever told wouldn’t have remained around for thousands of years if people knew they were lies.

Everything Bernie Madoff told his investors was an unequivocal lie. His Ponzi Scheme lasted for at least 15 years and bilked investors out of 50 billion dollars.

The piltdown man hoax. Somebody took an orangutan skull, filed the teeth down, stained it and buried it for scientists to find. It took nearly 50 years before the hoax was uncovered.

Hitler’s “big lie.” He believe that the bigger the lie and more often you repeat it the more likely it is to be believed. Everyone tells small lies, Hitler reasoned, but few have the guts to tell colossal lies. This is what the entire Nazi propaganda machine was based upon.
